llotanea 1988 Dipodomys panamintensis habitat amongst the pines is suitable (open between the Anterisia tridentata. 6mi S. 6 Granite Well, Presidense Mtns San Bernardino Co Calif. 21 Oct 1988 1) Habitat was harrea tridentata & Yucca schdizera dominated on a shallow sloping alluvial fan. Stones Appeared to be more or less evenly spaced between washes, course gravel with scattered igneous rocks (more than 50% cover at times) and base of rocky cliff. 2) Ratio of D. merriamii to D. panamintensis was 7:2 as per 180 traps 3) Habitat type extends down another 1000 ft towards Essex. K-rats could occur there, though this is probably lowest elev of occurrence. 4) Vegetation is mohave desert harrea scrub. The plants and associated small mammals are different from those throughout the rest of the range of this species. This population may be atypical for this sub-species ecological range
