Calif 120 ft. \n1) In this area there are shrubly swayles and sandy plain ridges. Signs of k-rats are seen both in open sandy areas + in the more shrubly areas. One might guess that signs of k-rats would be easier to find + thus observe in the open. Yet the absence of sign in shrubly areas correlated well with a lack of captures in those areas. Thus when signs of k rats occur in the open + shrubly spots they (k-rats) are their, when no signs of rats are found in the shrubs it is not because the signs are harder to see, it is because rats are absent \n2) These brats do not require pure (unvegetated) sand run- ways for locomotion, so long as the herbs or litter cover is interspersed with sand
