Villalobos 1992 Paynes Creek 10 Nov The vegetation is an oak woodland of Blue Oak, with some scattered Ceanothus. The woodland is open & short grasses grow where there are no rocks. Further up the road I set 20 traps 2.1 mi. N. and 0.4 mi. W. Paynes Creek, Tehama Co. Calif, 1800 ft From Hwy 36 wfdent 1.9 mi. N. on Lanes Valley Rd. The vegetation is a Montana/ Sierran chaparral that is transitional to forest: Ceanothus (deciduous with red distinct pinnate venation), 2 Manganites (a shiny green one, and the other a dull yellowish-green), Q. chrysolepas, twin berry? (heart shaped leaves & 2 inch legume pods) a Betulaceas, Poison Oak, and Pinus jeffrei. Soil here is same as at Dales. At Dales caught 2 Dipodamp, one in grass & one under Ceanothus. At Paynes Creek caught 2 Dipsos. This was the only species caught.
