Villablanca 1992 Phelan 21 Oct Density of Joshua increases from the highway as you go up to the heads of the large bajadas. There is a D. panamienus mohavensis collection for Llano. This area is Creosote brush scrub with scattered Joshua trees & is just below a Joshua tree wood- land extending up the bajada. From Hwy 138 @ Hwy 18 all the way to Heep- rive is Joshua tree woodland, or Mojave desert with scattered Joshuas. From around Hwy 18 on, pick up more Junipers, especially as climbs in elevation (ie: @ lower edge of Juniper woodlands. Phelan Rd leaving [illegible] Hwy 138 the Joshua & Junipers are co-dominant with Cico or scattered growth. 8.7 mi E and 0.2 mi N Phelan 3580 ft San Bernardino Co. Set 120 live traps in a 20 x 6 station grid with traps at 12 pace (20 m) intervals. The lines about the 1st dirt Rd that parallels Phelan Rd. Line A1 is SW corner & E20 is NE corner of grid. Area is co-dominated by Junipers & Joshua trees. Also present: cholla-shooted needle. Astrplen, Eriogonum, Rice grass-Area
