Villablanca 1992 Journal March '92 Em route from Lesbelay to the Providence Mountains, then Cima dome, and then the Pana- mint Mts. At Lost Hills (in central valley) find ponding water from the first good rain for about 5 yrs. The drought has been dry & long. This year "el niƱo southern oscillation" brings storms out of the south. Hwy 58 East. Edison is in the foothills @ base of the Tahachapi mts. The foothills & alluvial fans are a grassland with scattered shrubs, some sandstone outcrops. Just N. of Hwy 58 lies an E.-W. valley of low elevation. Further north is the V shaped valley to walber para. From Lost Hills to foothills saw 14 crews. Amantli is abundant in foothills, when get to Hwy 223 are in a valley & blue oak woodland. By Hart Flat, are in a mixed evergreen forest with Digger Pines, some chaparral & Rabbit brush
