The foothills & alluvial fans are a grassland with scattered shrubs, some sandstone outcrops. Just N. of Hwy 58 lies an E.-W. valley of low elevation. Further north is the V shaped valley to walber para. From Lost Hills to foothills saw 14 crews. Amantli is abundant in foothills, when get to Hwy 223 are in a valley & blue oak woodland. By Hart Flat, are in a mixed evergreen forest with Digger Pines, some chaparral & Rabbit brush
