about 1/2 of the precipitation we get in an entire normal rain season. Now that the plants are responding there are no (few) k-rats around to exploit the food, I suspect this decrease in seed predation will mean even more plants will sprout next year (given we get some rain). This means that the greater the decline in k-rat pops, the better the habitat quality will be for the few individuals that will be the source for the local pop to come.
1 April Callendar Substation, 3/10 mile S. Hwy 1 and 3/10 mile E. Railroad tracks, San Luis O-Las Nipomo Mesa, San Luis O-Lispo Ca. Calif 120 ft Returned to set another 160 traps in a depression 3/10 mile SW of the substation. We also re-trapped the open sandy area. The depression is a small hollow that ends at the
