Villablanca 1991 Journal 20 April 3 1/10 miles W and 1/2 mile N Temblor Peaks, Elkhorn Plain, San Luis Obispo Co., Calif. 2500 ft. From Hwy 58 (178 on 1959 USGS topos) drive out 21.7 miles S on the Elkhorn road; this is 8.7 miles S of the power lines that cross the road. The area we trapped began 4/10 of a mile north of Elkhorn Road. It is a perennial stream channel. From the road, the channel runs down from a canyon w/ a steep face to the west & a more shallow, rolling face to the east. Going upstream the channel is wide (20-60 feet) with several (2-4) ravines on either side. Further upstream the channel forks. The N. fork runs up into a large canyon w/ a high ridge behind it to the north. The NE fork runs towards a dome shaped hill (2952 ft) to the east.
