Over all then, we capture 2 K- rats, 3 Perognathus californicus and 3 Peromyscus maniculatus. The herb cover is high following 5 yrs of drought and a good heavy rain this march. Vegetation is dominated by Ericameria ericoides. Sub- dominants are lupinus chanie- savia, Phlox (fresh), Eriogonum fasciculatum + Pimenus fascicu- latus. Herbs + subshrubs are, Horkelia cuneata, filares, Phacelia, castilleja, fiddleneck, popcorn flower. Grasses were primarily Bco Bromus rubens, Bromus diandrus and secondarily Ehrharta aemaraea, Arena Arena lardata & a fescue. All of this area has a pale sand with little organic material except under shrubs. At least w/ Ericameria dominant K- rats are in the open.
