Villablanca 1990 Journal 20 July Santa Monica Mountains Natl Recreation area, Los Angeles Co. California 1800+ feet Along the Temescal Canyon Trail from 1/2 mile E of eagle spring to 1.75 mile SE of eagle spring (along trail) saw lots of sign of Dipodomys agilis. Burrows, tail drags, foot prints and sand bathing sites were common. Soil is silty clay. Parent material is sandstone. Vegetation is primarily southern chaparral, with scattered grassland + riparian (oak) canyons. 23 Aug Corral Hollow, San Joaquin Co. Calif., 200 ft Sign of Dipodomys heermanni (Burrows + tail drags + pit washes + bathing areas) seen in western edge of Connelly Ranch, just East of the Carnegie Off Road Vehicle Recreation Area. Habitat is a sandy creek floodplain. Sparse grass + heavily
