Villablanca 1988 Journal the cover is too thick for K-rats, but enough open areas with little vegetation litter occur that burrow + surface caches can occasionally be found. This area could use a good fire as is indicated by all the decadent shrubs + extensive litter. We set 4 lines west of the road (A-D) and 2 one-half lines east of road (E+F) for a sum of 200 traps. Order of lines is A1 B C D E F. A1 is N 293° W of A + S 228° W of B. A runs @ W 242° S with ~11 m intervals between traps. Line B is 40 m S. of Line A, and runs S 243° W at ~15 m intervals. Line C is 40 m S. of Line B, and runs S 245° W at ~11 m intervals. Line D is 40m S of Line C + runs S 242° W to D35 + then turns S 165° E. Lines A-D start about 20-25 m West of the road. Line E is 40m east of A1 + runs S 176° E. Line F is 40m east and 15m south of A1 and runs N 356° W. 23 Oct Got up and pulled the traps. Line A caught 1krat + 2 peromyscus
