Thacker 1960 P.2 Thornnys butterflies (except tasitalis and Cymus) July 25 Butler Spr., Halls Flat, 5650±ft., T33N, R6E sec. 2 Lamco, Calif. This locality is 1.2 mi. NW of the Black Mtn Forest Experimental Station (Halls Flat R.S.) and right under a power transmission line just 3 W of the road. The vegetation is an interspersion of pine forests and meadows. Sage brush grows where the forest is open or cleared. The gopher workings where I got out 9 sets were in the grassy meadows. The soil is hard, dark and dried forming large cracks. There are occasional stones and boulders in the ground. Today I had 3 gophers in my traps.
