Theeler 1960 Journal P. 44 Dec. 10 Upper Pierce Ranch, 300+ ft., Marin Co. Calif. After supper I took a shot at a gray fox in the yard of the ranch. Although I hit him he was able to run off and I lost him in the dark. Later the 5 of us returned to the bay beach. Dr. Benson demonstrated rather successfully his game call on a gray fox. We saw numerous deer, fox and racoon in the light from flashlits and headlamps. Dr. Benson had a fox in a steel trap at the beach. We continued north for about 1/2 mile, then W to the road and track to the ranch. I turned in about 10. Dec. 11. Upper Pierce Ranch, Marin Co. to Berkeley: Up about 7:00 AM. After breakfast I checked my traps and got 4 foxes (Vulpes vulpes) and 6 Peromyscus maniculatus. We packed up and left about 10:30 AM. Stopped to pick up the mountain beaver traps before returning to Berkeley about 3:30 PM.
