October 1960 Journal P. 25 July 2 I mi, W Martin Peak, 7300+ft. Placento. to Berkeley, Calif. we broke camp and started back to Truckee. We stopped the car just where the road crosses the Placer-Nevada Co. line, I walk east from the road across a sagebrush covered flat for about 1/2 mile. Here there is a steep dropoff to the flats below. Along this steep bank was a line of lodgepole and yellow pines. In about half an hour I took two Empidonax griseus. Returned to the car and returned to our camp near Hobart Mill. We walked over to Wed's study area where I shot a chickaree and an Empidonax wrighti. By now it had started to rain, we returned to Truckee for lunch and headed back to Berkeley arriving about mid-afternoon.
