Thacker 1960 Journal p.10 Apr.14 (cont.) Elysian Valley, 5.3 mi. S., 0.3 mi. E Johnsterville Lassen Co., Calif. indicated that their ranch had been located at the mouth of valley where Gold Run Creek enters the main valley. By now it was late afternoon so we returned to our camp in the Elysian Valley stopping to pick up our traps along the way. The set near the Peter Lassen Grave yielded no results but one of those further south at the Mtn. Meadow Ranch produced a T. townsendi, while I checked my gopher sets I heard but failed to see a pileated woodpecker. After supper we put in a long night of skinning. I got to bed about 3 AM. Apr. 15. Elysian Valley to Portola, Plumas Co., Calif. We got up rather late (7 AM), picked up our two remaining sets, broke camp and headed south. Drove E to US 395 about 3 mi. N Janesville Then south to Boyle for lunch. We continued to see the large mounds almost certainly attributable to T. townsendi all along the W shore of Honey Lake. After lunch we continued south along US 395 keeping an eye out for gopher sign. Stopped at one place where there was open ground level on either side of the road for a more certain search but turned up nothing. This was about 5 mi. N of Hallelujah Junction. At the junction we
