Species Account
Theomys bourpardi selectus (p.2)
to the W toward the Long Valley Creek. The soil is
sandy and v. easy to dig in. Sometimes I collapsed
gopher tunnels by stepping on them while putting
in traps. The soil is very light in color just a few
shades off the white. The area is sage covered, with
fairly close spacing of the sage bushes.
For the
exact point used as a basis for distance from
Herley see journal for Apr. 4, 1959 (p.2)
This A.M. I had one ? here.

Yesterday afternoon I set several traps here and
This morning I had one gopher. This area is on the
flat just W of the Long Valley Creek. I took the
gopher from the side of the road (S. shoulder).
This area was covered by less sage and more
grass than mentioned above but the soil was
still sandy but somewhat claser. Also see journal
Apr. 4, 1959 (p.2) for designation of Herley.

Yesterday I set a number of traps on either
paved
side of the road that run N-S. to Herley from
U.S.395. This area was on the W side of the
Long Valley Creek on the flat just above the level of
the river. There were cultivated pastures on either
side of the road. My traps were set along the right-of-way
however, The soil is sandy, easy digging, and rather dark
brown in color. I had 2 gophers this A.M. (journal Apr.4,1957 for Herley)
