Thacker 1959 Species Account Thomomys monticolus p.3 Oct. 4 (cut) of perhaps 2 or 3 acres surrounded by pines. The grass here is green and v overgrazed by sheep. The soil is moist, clinks and fine. There are a lot of gopher workings here. These animals seem to be relatively common in this meadow. 3.5 mi N, 1.9 mi E Calpine, 4910+ ft. Plumas Co. Calif. I got one of this species from the three lots in the dry stream bed here. The soil is v. gravelly since it is composed of stream outwash. (For further details see Species Account, T. bottae, 3.5 mi N, 1.8 mi E Calpine 4930+ ft., Plumas Co. Calif same date p.3 and 4.)
