Oct 21 Traps checked at 6:30 A.M. One Perognathus (not preservable) at foot of slope. One Dipodomys (RB, # ) on slope, one Peromyscus (not prepared) on slope. Dick Banks also took 1 Peromyscus, and 2 Perognatus one was P. californicus (not preservable) and the other P. inornatus (?). 0.6 mi. E of county line in San Joaquin Co. (Corral Hollow) 4 Cistellas seen off road. Several others seen on level ground above road on N side. Rock Wrens (6), Horned Lark (about 35), Say's Phoebe (5) / Sparrow Hawk, 1 Red Tailed Hawk were seen while walking up (?) valley away from road. Banks coll; one Horned Lark. (RB# ). 0.4 mi. E of county line in San Joaquin Co. (Corral Hollow) walked N from road along stream & a few cottonwoods. 50+ House Finches, one collected (RB# ), 4 Scrub Jay /call/ (C.S.T. #144 ) 1 Hairy Woodpecker (C.S.T.# ) and Fork Sparrow 1 Nuttall's Woodpecker (RB# ), Junco 1 (collected one C.S.T.# ). On south side of road one shrike & small bird (unidentified) in leaves. One Anna's (?) Hummingbird on S. side of road. Collected one Shrike (C.S.T. #145 ) at along Corral Hollow Road 8 Mi. E. of Livermore, Alameda Co. In water in gravel quarry between Livermore and Pleasanton saw 75+ Coot, 2 Greater Yellow Leg (?) , 1 Ring-billed gull. Returned at 12:30 PM to Berkeley.
