Species Account.
Perognathus spinatus
July 16
Vallecitos Stage Station, 1500+ ft., San Diego Co., Calif.
One specimen (572) was taken in # trapline
described under the species account of Dipodomys:
Merriami (573-574),
July 16.
Tumco Mines, 700+ ft., Imperial Co., Calif.
I had a trapline set out from the old abandoned
far buildings on the north side of the valley following down
along the river and out onto the flats of the
valley floor. The valley floor is cut by fairly deep gullies.
Upon checking 9:20 PM checked my traps and took
4 of these mice. There We also noted much activity
of small animals in the old corrugated iron building
in which we were sleeping and set several traps
in here by 11 P.M. one of these mice had been
caught in the building. (544-48)
July 17.
Upon checking the same trapline mentioned above,
the following morning I had four more of this species.
The traps in the building, yielded another. These were
frozen and prepared later (607, 609-613).
