Thaeler 1958 Species Account Myotis volans (June 14, Mt. Shasta State Fish Hatchery, 3440 +/- ft, Siskiyou Co, California) I shot a female with very large embryos. It was completely formed and must have been nearly ready for birth, judging from its size. This was the only bat I had a chance to shoot at, only two others having been seen. The cooler temperatures this evening seem to have kept down most of the bat activity. Others had had good success in the same place on evenings prior to tonight. The area is an open field adjoining a small pond on the SW corner of the hatchery property. The area is surrounded on the W and S by forest. Before tonight several Eptesicus and one Lasiocineta had been shot here.
