Thacker 1956 Species Account Eptesicus fuscus July 14 Agua Caliente Hot Spgs., 1400+ ft., San Diego Co., Calif. As we were leaving this place after netting bats a bat of kind flew into the car and was captured. I killed it the following day and prepared it (538) July 15 Vallecito Stage Station, 1500+ ft., San Diego Co., Calif. One of this species was taken while night- roosting in the stage station, at about midnight, & prepared it late & after it had been frozen. (558). July 17. Tunco Mines, 700+ ft., Imperial Co., Calif. This morning Al Beck found a colony of females of this species roosting in a nearly mine shaft. All told he estimated that there were about 35 bats in the colony. He was able to secure about 20 of which I took 7 as specimens (597-601, 605-606). He banded and released the remainder. None of the seven had embryos, one showed a possible placental scars, and five were either recently secured lactating or still were. July 18. Mountaineer (New Era) Mine, 750+ ft., 5.5 mi. S, 0.6 mi. E Victor, Riverside Co., Calif. One of this species was secured in the horizontal shaft on the north side of the canyon at this mine. Several others were seen in the shaft along with Antrozous and Macrotus. (for further details see sp. acc. of Macrotus californicus for this date and local.)
