Thacker 1958 Species Account Thomasys (monticula "pinetorum") = meyanus p.3 June 19 Spring Creek Ranch, [Hayt's] 3560 ± ft., 0.2 mi W, 0.3 mi S Big Spring, Siskiyou Co. Calif. (T. 40 N R. 4 W, Sec. 8) I caught 4 gophers in 13 sets here today. All were females. The two larger ones were almost the same size. (not 497 and 498). However 497 had a much enlarged vagina and uterus and much mammary tissue while 498 gave no indication of ever having bred. Her reproductive tract was very thin resembling the smaller females nos 499 and 500. June 20. Lombardi Ranch, 3582 ± ft., 1/2 mi. NW Mt. Shasta R.O., Siskiyou Co., Calif. (T. 40 N, R. 4 W, sec. 17) Yesterday we again set out traps here. This morning I had caught gophers: 2098, 4 #. All there were taken in an alfalfa field, previously trapped. Since our trapping here a week ago the field had been cut and the alfalfa was now rows drying. There nos (502 thru 507) were preserved in formalin (1:9).
