Heeler 1958 Species Account Thomomys (monticulae "pinetorum") = mayamum p.2 June 13. Lombardi Ranch, 3525 f.; 1/2 mi. WNW Mt. Shasta Rd iskiyou Co., Calif. at 7 AM Checked gopher traps over the oat and alfalfa fields again. I had only three gophers. - 2 adult & & (noo. 453-454) and a young ? (not saved). One of my remaining two sets in the alfalfa had a gopher. The other two came from the oat field. Dr. Benson got 14 gophers during the night. I reset all check traps that had taken gophers. I now have 5 sets ( 4 double, one single in the alfalfa). This morning there are many recent working prints. Most of my sets are now these recent workings. Checked traps again about 4 P.M. I had six - one from the alfalfa the remainder from the oat field. Since we already have 26 skins we did not reset the traps which took gophers. This afternoon's "catch" included 1 ad. ?, 4 ad. & & and one young ? (not saved). June 14 (Same locality as above) I caught four gophers overnight. One adult ?, one young ? and two ad. & &. We pulled all traps from Lombardi's. The total "catch" amounted to 56 gophers of which a total of 46 were saved. June 18 Spring Creek Ranch (Mayte), 3560 ± ft, 0.2 mi W, 0.3 mi S Big Spring, Liskiyou Co., Calif. (T.40 N, R.4 W, sec.8). I took for young here this A.M. This evening I had one ad. ?, one ad. & and one young ? The ad. ? was taken at the extreme north end of the pasture, within 75 yds. of the place I had caught a typical monticula.
