Burbank to Vallecito Stage Station San Diego & Caly
Valleys. In Vallecito Valley the vegetation is
ocotillo, barrel cactus, and [illegible] cactus. This
is very little grass. In Mason Valley the
vegetation is predominantly creosote bush with
much more grass. The vegetation of Vallecito
is much the same as around Agua Caliente.
There was much sign of Pipistrels here
in Mason Valley. We set 50mmuseum
specials.
On our return to Vallecito we stopped
where the road reaches the bottom of the
grade between the valleys. Here we set
8 schylers for Neotoma among the
rocks.
By this time it was almost 6 P.M. and
the first bats were seen. We drove to Agua
Caliente. Al netted Pipistrels over the large
pool, I over the small one. In an hours time
I had taken about 7 bats; Al about 40. He bands
and released all but four.
After this we returned to Vallecito for
dinner, after which I went to [illegible].
Al caught some Antrozous and Corynorhinos
night roosting in the station. Ill put there
up later.
