June 20.
Mt. Shasta to Wagon Camp, Siskiyou Co., Calif (cnt museum specialists along a very small stream,
adjacent part of the meadow and in the bordering
woods. After supper we tried to shoot but
but did not see a single one. The temperature
by 10 P. M was 44° F and a wind was blowing.
June 21
Wagon Camp to Mount Shasta State Fish Hatchery,
Siskiyou Co., Calif.
Up about 7 A.M. Checked and took up my traps
before breakfast. I had one gopher, three microtus
longicaudus, one Eutamius amoenus, and three
Peromyscus maniculatus (discarded)
after breakfast we put up specimens until
about 1 P.M. Then broke camp and returned
to the hatchery via yesterdays route.
The Hills again invited us to dinner and let
us use their shower. After dinner we
tried out shooting but I had only one shot
that I missed.
June 22
Mt. Shasta Fish Hatchery to Crystal Spr. State Fish
Hatchery, Shasta Co., Calif.
Up at 7 AM, packed and left by 8:15. Took
Rt. 89 South and East to US 299 then into Requa
for groceries. About 11:30 AM. we arrived at the
Crystal Springs State Fish Hatchery. Mr. Hill had
arranged with the superintendent here, Mr. Delbert
