Thaeler 1958 Journal p. 13 June 19 Mt. Shasta, Siskiyou Co., Calif. Last evening Dr. Hoyt gave us a map of his property. The following are our collecting localities on the Spring Creek Ranch (Hoyt's) and their equivalent: .4 mi W Big Spring, 3500± ft = 900 ft east, 700 ft north of middle of sect. 8 .2 mi W, .3 mi S Big Spring (3560± ft) = 1000 ft east, 900 ft south of middle of sect. 8 .2 mi W, .6 mi S Big Spring, 3550± ft = 1000 ft east, 2300 ft. south middle of sect. 8. Also see map on p. 14 (Journal) Up at 7: A.M. Spent the morning finishing skinning animals from yesterday. After lunch we returned to the Hoyt place and picked up our traps. I had 4 gophers - all females. Later we set traps in the alfalfa field on the Lombardi Ranch. After a supper in town we started skinning. I took time to go bat shooting but with only limited success. Last evening we had a thunderstorm and today it was overcast most of the day. It rained for a few minutes between 5 and 6 P.M. Conseq-‘uently it has been cool all day. Probably this was responsible for the fact that I saw only three bats between 9:10 and 9:45 P.M. Other evenings when we shot bats the weather had been warmer. In fact since last Friday the days have been very warm (local people say about 10° above normal) and the evenings mild.
