Baker Creek 12 mi. north Hetchum, Blaine Co. Idaho. Jan 5, 1936 The coldest part of the winter when the food in the dam would be unavailable. He also has watched Muskrat storing food in a low spot near the stream which would indicate that there will be little snow to cover this supply but a great thickness of ice to render food in the water un- available. He showed me a stretch of water inhabited by an old Beaver who lived in the bank and did not attempt to build a dam. This Beaver had tried several times to build a dam across the stream but was unsuccessful due to the swiftness of the water. Linderman had seen the tracks of one Fisher last year about a mile up Baker Creek. These tracks are the only sign of this animal he has found in the Sawtooth. He is of the opinion however that they are more common in areas remote from roads and towns. Jan 6, 1936 Still snowing intermittently today. Hetch hiked to Bellevue and back in the afternoon to see Davis but found that he was spending the day south of here near Jerome. The
