Bellevue, Blaine Co., Idaho Jan 1, 1936 The flock gradually dispersed leaving in small flocks of 30 or more all flying in a similar direction up the valley. As I approached the Tree I noticed only a few birds left and closer examination showed that they were all Evening Grosbeaks. A single shot brought down two of the birds, a male and female. The flock contained about 25 individuals. At dusk I hiked up to the slaughterhouse at the mouth of Slaughterhouse Canyon where I had noticed numerous weasel tracks this morning. I set 3 traps here, one a trail set and 2 baited sets. I also set a trail set for White Tailed Jackrabbit here. A Horned Owl was heard hooting as I returned home. January 2, 1935. It snowed more than 6 inches last night and was still snowing this morning. My traps were deeply covered and all empty. Another mouse trap was missing. I now believe that these missing traps have caught mice, and have attracted coyote or weasel which have carried them away. As I picked up my last trap a flock of Bohemian Waxwings, about 500 in number lit in a croup of aspens a few hundred feet below me.
