Swung:1921, Kurpuk=23mi Hazellin, B.C. 75. Tues June 21. Was forced to get up at 4:30 because flies were so bad. Shining with a rainbow in the sky and the brush damnably wet. Went for a short hunt saw many Pheas, many Harels, secured one two badly shot, a & with traces of a mustache on each side. Saw two rabbits and one Blackbird, Dusty probably. Many Robin and Tree Swallows with Song. Nuttall Chipping and Lincoln Sparrow as well as Juncoes. Heard a new note and secured a White-throated Sparrow, one of a pair who seemed to have a nest near from their actions, chipping from the top of various bushes. Secured one but could not get the other or find the nest tho I got soaking wet. Spent all morning cleaning up and moving into the cabin. A hard dirty job, but we are now more comfortably fixed then we were near Hazellin. In the afternoon I went down to the river with an Indian chief about 14 who is herding cattle for Geo. Beins. He had a net out. I and while we waited we caught one beautiful big trout about 2 1/2 ft long light silvers with red spots very faint. Caught one Whitefish. The river is muddy very swift and the banks are all brushy so you cannot get near the water save in a very few places.
