Crows near the cabin today. Found a juneo's nest completed annextens but without eggs, on the trail. Seneed a crested Jay a "steleri" with the white eye-patch of the Rocky Mt. species. Also seened two light-colored Saramnah Sparrow. Saw and seened my first male Red Start, a beautiful, brilliant, little bird. Came back to camp via the wagon-road and G.R. trails. Besides the Redstart I seened a Pileolated and Audubon Warbler, same altitude as Hazeltin, 959 ft.

Stom. cont. rabbits fur, ear, meat. Crop full of meat (rabbit) with whole heart. Just changing into adult plumage, two blue feathers on wing, several new feathers.
Eyes, yellowiris, black pupil. Feet, greenish-yellow. Legs same as feet. Mouth, oliv-green, bill, dark gray-blue.
The above bird (91) was shot this evening after he had perched in a poplar back of the cabin. He was gorged by his latest meal, a Snowshoe rabbit evidently.
