Thurs. July 14.- Good weather. Went around and took up my trap-line.
Two meadowlarks and two sorex along swamp, three lewiscous in woods and one sorex, one zapnis along creek next to field.
Wesad: Caught a weasel in my steel trap on runway next to slough was using mouse for bait between two traps. Shot an adult thrush woodpeeler, and Purple Finch. Spent afternoon packing and putting up specimens as Mr. Swarth ran a stick into his eye and was laid up.
Tomorrow we go into Hazelton with Ed Patton, starting at eight and getting in supposedly at five.

Fri. July 15.- Rode in with Ed's. Rained hard all day, walking us and our outfit. This climate is so much worse than Oregon's that the two don't compare.
Spent the night in the Omicene Hotel. Chute a pile of mail. Listened to many wild yarns about grizzlies and their ills, told by the village valentour, Mr. Swarth said he had been talking for two hours before I came and he was going strong two hours later when I went to bed.
