Sat. July 9.- Rained per usual, little doing. Went up and down the road but got practically nothing. Cut some wood this afternoon and in falling a big snag a cat flew out and lit near me, crawling into a crevice of a nearly stump. Mr. Swarth secured him with the aug. Evidently these cats spend the day up in the burnt timber.
