Wedo July 6.—Altho rainy, a heavenly calm has settled over this place, in spite of the dead horses, colts etc. they left adorning our front yard. Being came up two morning with a small amt. of mail. Two Swedish (Jaklimo) Packos from Telegraph Creek was with him, and they started north with a string of horses and colts, they will get to Telegraph Creek in about seven days fast travelling. They were Hudson Bay Packers, and one of them “Danny” is a first class Squiolo, and quite a white cap when only sixteen years old, went with Stare into the interior after sheep resulting in the new species are storei. Their outfits were exceptionally good. I wish we was going with them.

Dobo Virginian this evening I went out and shut a rabbit and a little later a beautiful Horned Owl adult ♀, it is richly colored having just finished its moult, with much white on the breast, and dark on the back. Mr. Swarth put it up. (Swarth. No. 11938.)
