Purple Martin
1.
Big Sur Redwoods State Parks, Monterey Co., Calif.
april 25-26
A large, dead redwood on the north side of
the valley was evidently the nesting
place of several pairs
of Purple Martins
which could be
seen entering and
leaving the several
holes in the top of
the dead stub. I
saw no more than
5 at once but
think that there
were several
pairs at least. It
was a great pleasure
to hear their rich
song again.
