Point Lobos, Monterey Co., Calif. March 7, 1942 Bird soaring motionless near top of one of the peaks on the point. Sketched from memory March 8, 1942 Wings bent and bird headed into the wind. The bird was rather heavily barred and called quite often, as though it were near its nesting ground. Judging by size, I suspect that this bird was a female but could not be sure. We were unable to see any nesting site from land & it is possible this is on the cliffs on the seaward part of the north coast of the point.
