RedStore 1945 Blacks-footed Albatross Jan 13. "S.S. Muniel Victory", Richmond to 15 mi W. Farallon Is. & Return, San Pablo Bay & Pacific Ocean. Saw a total of 7 albatrosses as follows: 1 just SW Farallons, 3 about 7 mi. W Farallones & 3 about ahead of the Farallones. It would be impossible to say whether these were all different birds or not as they did not appear to follow the ships. They would cross the wake three or four times about 2 or 3 ship lengths behind as & then wander off. Three birds were seen at once on two occasions. Jan 27. "S.S. Beatrice Victory", Richmond to 15 mi. W. Farallon Is., San Pablo Bay & Pacific Ocean 5 miles W. Farallones I saw one Albatross flying quite a way off. It came up to another which was on the water near what looked like some kelp & lighted. saw one more about 7 miles W of the Farallones. Feb. 27. "S.S. Middlebury Victory", Richmond to 15 mi. W. Farallon Is., San Pablo Bay & Pacific Ocean 10 AM on way out 5 mi E Farallones saw single Albatross. 11 AM - Turning circle first. 10-15 miles W. Farallones saw two albatrosses one black & the other with a narrow band of white on the wmp and a light patch at the base of the primaries. This was the first light
