Rustora 1946 Journal 23. Aug 21 3 mi. SW Summit, Union Co., New Jersey Collected Salamanders in a spring in the Watchung Reservation. A clear bricked cavity into which the spring came yielded Eurycea longicanda, below in an area choked & waterless were a small snake and many Pseudotitons. I also collected under stones along the ridge and along the brook which runs through the reservation. Aug 25 Ocean & Burlington Cos. New Jersey, Visited Hodgate and the Tuckerton Meadows (Ocean County) and Green Banks and Martha, Burlington County & A.H.Miller. Sept. 6 Lake Chautauqua Refuge, near Havana, Illinois. A.O.V. field trip. Outstanding birds seen were one Golden Plover, and several Baird & Pectoral Sandpipers also collected Skull of Gnr. Too early for many ducks - Mallard, Black, Wood Ducks & Blue-W teal only. Other shorebirds included Killdeer, Semipal Plover, Least & Semipal. Sandpipers, Lesser Yellowlegs and Black Tern. Also G. Blue Heron & Am. Egret. Sept. 8 Near Cozad, Nebraska from Bus. a few miles east of Cozad saw 3 Hungarian Partidges and 125-150 Franklin Gulls - the latter in 2 flocks of about equal size. Another flock of 75 or so a few miles west of Cozad. Sept. 9 Saltair - 15 miles West Salt Lake City, Utah. Avocet 30+, Killdeer 4, Raven 1, Calif. Gull 2. Gull sp? 20+ Barn Swallow, Brewer Blackbird, Burrowing Owl.
