Prostoren 1944. Annotated list of Vertebrates 164. Aug 6-12. 1mi SE San Benito Peaks, 4400', San Benito Co., Calif. 1. Turkey Vulture. [illegible] seen 1mi NE San Benito Peaks, & I seen from Road near Camp. 2. Red-tailed Hawk. Pair Seen 1mi NE San Benito Peaks. I seen over Camp. 3. Cooper Hawks. 1 coll. near camp & I seen on E slope San Benito Peaks. 4. Sharp-shin Hawk. 1 seen 1mi E San Benito Peaks on Aug 11. sul. indet. Accipiters also seen. 5. Golden Eagle 1 seen 1mi NE San Benito Peak & two on way down Camp on Aug 12. 6. Cal. Mail 1 seen 1mi NE San Benito Peaks on Aug 9. apparently scarce. 7. Mourning Dove widely distributed, seen every day & everywhere we collected, but not very numerous. 8. Screech Owl Dr Miller collected one August 8 along the road near Camp. I picked up a Owl secondary in the trail just downstream from camp. 9. Horned Owl heard calling on two occasions & one seen once. 10. White-throated Swift. several seen 1mi NE San Benito Peaks & in canyon down stream from Camp. 11. Anna Hummer seen 1mi E San Benito Peaks and in the meadow near Camp on August 11. 12. Rufous Hummer Selasphorus hummers were common along the streams & on hillsides where red thistles grow. Dr Miller collected two - Both Rufous.
