Aug 9. was coming up again - Adenostoma, Eumomites, margarita, scrub oak, & Mt. mohogany underneath the burned trunks & branches grew grass, a germitory (ediniocystis) prider poppy; (collected), and a great deal of Yerba Santa. The ridge top & N & E exposures were covered with a dense, high chaparral - mostly scrub oak & Mt. mohogany, along the top I collected a red Delphinium & saw Penstemon (small whiteone). at the south end, the ridge was rocky and supported a more varied plant association with Yucca (which grew also on the W slope) zaucleriaia, & Pellaea mucronate. I found only one plant which was too dry & brittle to save). There was also a tall red & spiked flower past blooming & red thistles which seemed to attract Selasphorus hummers. Here all the seloporus were accidentally rather than graciously Dipo workings were all around the ridge especially near the top and chipmunk were also present although less numerous than in the margarita's rear camp. There was a flat a good way down the west slope where there was a concentration of Bell Sparrows. This flat was sandy & supported a scattered growth of large Mt mohogany & Scrub oak, with a scattering of Pines & live oaks. There were also a few Bell sparrows scattered
