Berkeley to Cedar Camp, Kings Canyon, Fresno Co., Calif.
June 1, 1942
Left MV2 at 1:30 PM with Henry Fishley
in the old museum truck and drove
to Cedar Camp or, Kings Canyon via Tracy,
Modesto, & Fresno arriving at 10:30 PM.
Day was clear and warm but the sierras
were hidden by mist. Birds seen en route
included Double C. Cormorant, Great Blue & Green
Heron, Anhoret, Vulture, Red-tailed Marsh Hawks,
Kildeer, Sparrow Hawk, Black Tern, Western Kingbird,
Cliff & Barn Swallows, Cal. Jay, Crow, M. Dove,
Robin, Shrike, Redwing, Brewer Blackbird,
Meadowlark, Bullock Oriole, Linnet, House
Sparrow, Sable Sparrow, Junco, & Black Pewee.
Cedar Camp, & vicinity, Kings Canyon, Fresno Co., Calif.
June 2 & June 3 to 11 A.M. (4600')
Went up canyon as far as roaring river,
& up trail above camp to about 7500'
With field party consisting of Mrs Grimell,
Marie Radon, Jean Rusticle, Ida Dehay, &
Josephine Crowley. Birds found were:
Golden Eagle, Sparrow Hawk, Sierra House,
M. Dove, Pigeon & Spotted Owls, White-thr. Swift,
Calliope Hummer (nest), Flickers, white-headed
& Hairy woodpeckers, Black Pewee, Western
& Olive-sided Flycatcher, Wood Pewee, Violet-
green Swallow, Steller Jay, Nut. Chickadee,
