Point Lobos State Park, Monterey Co., California
April 27
Arrived at park about 10 AM. Cool and overcast with an occasional drizzle
(Condorred [illegible] walked around Whales Cove
and came to North end of East Shore, where
I watched Pigeon Guillemots on island 50'
of shore to the North. Other birds on the point
and island were, Baird's Sandpiper 30, Western
Hull 20, House Finch 2, Anna Hummingbird 1?
(probably with nest nearby), Surf Scoter ad.,
Left here about 1:30 PM climbed down to
the wall's edge on the west side of Bluefish
Cove where I saw a Wandering Tattler. Then
climbed Big Dome and finally went out to
Punta de los Lobos Marineros where I saw a
black gopher. It started to rain with
about 3
a fine, steady rain, so returned to the
gatehouse. Other birds seen in the park were
Junco
Wren-tit, bush-tit, Allen Hummer, White-c. Sparrow,
Western Flycatcher, Cliff Swallow, Meadowlark, and
Calif. Mail. Saw Stellar-sealion, Otillus beckeyi,
and signs of Mole, Gopher, + Hierofuge also a
Xenobatus which I think was careless.
The following flowers were blooming in
large numbers, Sisyphium, Sidalcea, Calif.
Poppy, Lupines, mustard, Short Primrose, Statice,
a Callicystris, Castilegia, + many others. Pteridophytes
