Big Sur to Carmel via Pt. Lobos, Monterey Co., California apr 26 colony of Murres and Brandt Cormorants. Here we also saw Calif. Thrasher, White-a. Sparrow, and a pair of Duck Hawks. Also seen between Big Sur and Pt. Lobos were Brown Pelican, Hudsonian Gull, Wn. Gull, Brewer Blackbird, and Am. Goldfinch. Arrived at Pt. Lobos about noon and stayed until 2:30 PM, lunching on the south shore and visiting Sandy Beach, the Cypress Grove and the point on the east end of the East Grove where we failed to see guillemots. The birds seen at Lobos included: Violet-green Swallow, Wren Tit, Junco, Red-tailed Hawk, White-throated Swift, Brown Pelican, Baird Cormorant, Scoter (probably Surf), Sparrow Hawk, Black Oystercatcher, Semipal. Plover, Black Turnstone, Hudsonian Gull, Willet, Wn. Sandpiper, Wn. Gull, Bonaparte's Gull, Allen's Hummer, Cliff Swallow, Calif. Jay, Ring-necked Pheasant, Meadowlark, White-a. Sparrow. I was left at the home of Baird Williams in Carmel at 3 PM while the rest of the party returned to Berkeley.
