RewStow 1949 20. March 22 Strawberry Canyon, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. To wet chaparral on W-facing slope above swimming pool to opposite poultry lab. 7:15-8:35 AM with Katherine Johnson. Cool, High 60 which began to burn off as we left. Spent most of the time in observation point, clearing in old road above (s) of the continuation of canyon drive and about opposite the poultry lab. Birds present from beginning of canyon drive were: Flicker 2 Hermit Thrush 1 Allen's Hummer 2 Ruby-c. Kinglet 4 Anna's " 4 Orange-c. Warbler 5's California Jay 2 Wilson's " 13 Bushtit 20 Brown Towhee 2 Wrentit 2 Spotted " 6 Bewick Wren 3 Song Sparrow Calef. Twail. 10 Watched hummers later in the morning near the Life Sciences Bldg on the campus and also saw a Russet-backed Thrush by the creek nearby.
