The weather was partly foggy with a south
wind and was fairly cold. Birds seen
in the Big Sur region were:
Brand Cormorant 6+ Black Phoebe
Scoter (sp?) 1 Robin
Turkey Vulture 8 Linnnet
Golden Eagle 1 White-a. Sparrow
Red-tail Hawk 1 Song "
Sparrows Hawks- Brewer blackbird 100
Calif. Mail 10(dustbathing) Wren #t
Western Gull 10 Calif. Thrasher
Great Blue Heron 3" Bewicks wren
Steller's Jay swl. Spotted Towhee.
Most conspicuous flowers were
cleanothers + Zygadenus. Some Eschscholtzia
Superbe, Columbine, + other flowers were
also in bloom.
Baldwin says that there are Canyon
Wrens and Dippers in the gorge of
the Big Sur River which can be seen
from the road.
