RewStore 1942 Strawberry Canyon, Berkeley, Alameda Co., California February 14, 1942 8:00 AM (Wait Time) to 10:30 AM. Clear cold (ice on puddles in road in Hamilton Gulch). With Herman Schwartz. A week of clear weather has dried things considerably and the weed is now almost clear. Went up Canyon Drive to the Siskel/centrewabler territory on the slope south of the swimming pool. No Siskelents but Allen Hummer 1♂ Flieser 1 Bush Tit 35 + Varied Thrush 6♂ Wren Tit 2 calkail 6 Spotted Towhee 8 Plain Tit 1 Fox Sparrow 2 Townsend Wabler 1 Ruby G. Kinglet 4 Robin 2 calif. Jay 2 Anna Hummer 1♂ Pipit 2 (flying over) were present in the area from Canyon Drive on. Took path up the hillside through a spruce grove (Golden G. Kinglet 2) to the top of Panoramic Way and around Hamilton Gulch to Dwight Way Hill + backd the upper road, down the hill and on the road which goes around the canyon to Canyon Drive. Saw some castelligas which were yellow instead of red. (Same species).
