Rustoon 1942 9. Feb. 8 7 Strawberry Canyon, Berkeley, Alameda Co., Calif. Went to breeding grounds of the Iutescent Warbler up Canyon Drive in the wet chaparral alone and south of the old swimming pool. In the wet chaparral and live oaks areas from 11:40 AM to 12:15 PM. Mostly clear at start rained from 12:05 --. Even before it clouded up, there was so much humidity that I could see my breath (as though it were cold) Trillium and Ribes were both in bloom, but I found no Allen's Hummers or Lutescent Warblers. In the live oaks there was the largest flock of bushtits I have seen to date -- at least 25. Other birds in the area were: Varied Thrush 4 Ruby-c. Kinglet 3 Plain Tit 2 Black Phoebe 1 Spotted Towhee 4 Bewicks Wren 2 Wrentit 5 Winter Wren 1 Calif. Jay 2.
