The following label was found in a jar
containing M.V.Z. Specimens # 36477 - 36480 inc;
Feb. 2, 1940 Isla Partida
Espritu Santo Island
Gulf of California, Mexico
Elevation [illegible]
J.F. Janssen Collector
and the following label in a jar containing
M.V.Z.Specimens # 36481-36489 inc.
2/6/40 S.E. End
Carmen Isl. Gulf
of Calif. Elevation
10 to 150 ft. J.F. Janssen, Coll.
All the specimens in both jars were labelled
"Espritu Santa and Carmen Islands - Feb. 2-6, 1940"
evidently by someone doing curatorial
works between then and now.
From this evidence it seems likely that
there was some doubt as to which label
belonged in which jar.
A study of the material might prove
which specimens came from which islands.

According to Burt's paper on Creunodophorus (1931)
thetwo specimens of C. hyperethrus (both in the second
jar, approach caerules, the form on Carmen Id.
