Restores 1941. Journal 7. July 22 Around Mexico D.F. Left the Desierto after breakfast, collected two ferns & saw the following birds. Myioborus miniatus, Mexican Junco, Black-headed Grosbeaks, Slate Chickadee, Steller Jay, Brown Creeper, Red Sh.-Flyche, Golden-crowned Kinglet, & Catharis occidentalis . Spent the A.M. in town doing errands, Went to Chapultepec Park & spent from 1 to 2:45 there. Saw the following birds there: House Finch, Robin, Philegonys, Brown Towhee, Catharus aurantiviridis, Bush Tit, Vermillion Flycatcher, Bewick's Wren, Iuca Dove, Black-headed Grosbeak, & Song Sparrow. Went to the National Park east of Toluca for the night. July 23 Mexico D.F. to 12 hri. S. of Cuernavaca Morelos, Elev. 4500'; Around camp in the National Park (open spruce forest & meadows) were (7-8:30 AM) Troglodytes brunneicollis, Psaltriparus melanotis, Eugelcis rubus, Pheustes slateri, Myioborus miniatus, Pipilo macronyx, Junco Phaeonotus, Song Sparrow, Empidonax (probably fulvipes), a large swift (coloured white capped / & a ? Hummer, med. size. white underparts, greenback small white corners ontail - brownish on flaves. Drone into Mexico & stayed until about 1 PM when we took the road to Cuernavaca. Collected 3 ferns by the 23 km post: saw Blue bird (wm.), Junco, Plagiospiza, Steller's Jay, & Gould Kinglet 25km S of Mexico. Stopped 12 miles south of Cuernavaca & drone off on a side road which led to a mesquite-covered valley
