After doing some errands in Mexico City we drove to the Desierto de los Leonos had supper & while looking for a place to camp found two Mexicans who had a week- end cabin in the Desierto & we stayed with them over night. July 20 Around Mexico City Bried & Break/fasted in the Desierto between 6:30 and 9:50 AM & saw the following: Red Warbler, Mexican Junco, Penthestes sclateri, Pipilo macronyx, Olive warbler, Basilentemus belli, Brown Creeper, atlapetes pileatus, Robin, Guarmonon miranticeps, Red-shafted flicker (Catharus occidentalis), From the Desierto to and around the city we saw the following birds: House Finch, Barn Swallow, White-eared Hummer, Blue-throated Hummer, Brown Towhee, Plagiospiza superciliosa, Shrike, Couch Jay, Chipping Sparrow, Penthestes sclateri, & Song Sparrow. Drove to the National Museum & saw the meager exhibits, & later went to the Floating Gardens of Xochimilco and went through the canals in a flat-bottomed scow. The gardens were once floating corn fields in
