M.F. Smith 1976 JOURNAL Hopland Field Station, Mendocino Co., Calif. Mar. 12 Left Berkeley at 10:30 am. Mileage 30602. Ate lunch after Cloverdale along Russian River, Arrived Hopland ~1:15 pm. Mileage 30707. Unloaded gear at bunkhouse and stopped by office to check on location of weather data in office. Drove up to chaparral patch in Orchard Pasture. Pecked out the area at the bend in the road for the transects. Set 2 lines of 20 each in chamise and out far edge into shrubs & trees. ^1-40^ Finished there at 3:15 pm. Drove to Dz Parasite Pen. Set 41-80 in 4 lines. 41-60 in glass with scattered trees (1st row), live oak grove ^ glass (arrow). 61-80 in glass with no trees. Lots of Microtus runways visible in short green grass. Finished there at 4:15 pm. Drove to Foster, Set 81-100 in creek bed. Some puddles of water this time. Live oak, Calif. Laurel, Madrone, Bucheye along creek. Set 101-120 along bottom of hill 30% slope scattered madrones and live oaks. (101-110 on steeper hillside; 111-120 start in grass, then trees on 15° slope. Finished there at 5:30 pm. Set 40 non-folding Sherman's around Rock Pile, Live Oaks, and Madrone on outer margin. Also Manzanita near end of pile. East 46-60 on south side ^92 south side near lake. South West 61-80 on N + E sides. Finished there at 6:15 pm. Still some light,
