Had breakfast and took down tent, which was wet from dew. Checked traps around campsite; Blue Jay Campground 6.2 mi NW of Ortega on Main Divide Rd. West 1 Dipodomys merriami 1 Peromyscus boylii 2.5 mi SE of Ortega Hwy (2nd night here) 4 Peromyscus californicus 1 Peromyscus eremicus 8 Dipodomys agilis? 3 of the P. calif were in scrub oak, Mt. Mahogany, lower groin oak, at edge of chamise hillside. 2.9 mi SE of Ortega Hwy (2nd night here) 3 Dipodomys agilis released 2 Neotoma 2 Peromyscus 4.7 mi SE of Ortega Hwy 2 Dipodomys agilis released 2 Peromyscus californicus 5.1 mi SE of Ortega Hwy 2 Dipodomys agilis released Finished there at 10:00 am. Drove back to highway and washed up, dried tent. Drove to Irvine and processed 37 mice. Finished there at ~6:00pm- went to Bud's house again for dinner & slept there. Called Smiley Shields to arrange to get into Piestic Canyon.
